Students of CEL learn and demonstrate how to:

  • Make, keep and renegotiate agreements
  • Handle their emotions and life circumstances
  • Self-generate patience, tolerance, and respect for self and others

CEL, in collaboration with Garza High School, was awarded a Wagner Peyser B Funds research grant to develop and implement a curriculum entitled Business: The Art and Science of Relationships (BASR).  Evaluation statistics revealed:

  • 100 percent completion rate
  • 100 percent Texas Essential Knowledge Skills (TEKS) mastery
  • 85 percent of participants had perfect to good attendance
  • An 8.2 student approval rating on a scale of ten (with ten being the highest)

Testimonials indicate that students used CEL's Methodology at home for self-care. We never asked them to do this; we believe the worth of information is its usefulness to the holder. We learned that our method not only taught on-task attitudes and behaviors in the classroom but gave students the abilities to self-reflect and self-correct on their own as indicated in their testimonials.

"I am very proud of what we accomplished. We accelerated their academics, gave them a foundation of the business world, helped them to know themselves better, and become aware of their surroundings." - Randy Atchison, Co-Facilitator, Garza H.S.
